Between the Peace and Democracy

Do you know or have you ever heard that Indonesia is the 4th largest country on earth? Large? yes, it's large, but I don’t think so at all. How about prosperity rate? How about education rate? How about security rate? How about integrity? And, how about internal conflict?

(Various sources say), Indonesia is the 3rd most democratic country in the world after India and America. Really? The most democratic country with a number of race, ethnicity, religion, and customs conflict? *thinking*

Please see this picture below, (taken by Fauzi Hanafiah). This picture has been published on the photographer's Facebook with the caption: “Indonesian state terrorism? What da hell??”.

Yes, I think I’m gonna say the same words “What the hell?” *sorry*. “Indonesian State Terrorism” was shouted by West Papua in front of the Peace Palace, Den Haag, Netherland. Yeah, that (slander) words has been made by my compatriots, people from the same nation, same country, same constitution with me. And maybe they think that they do really understand about democratic --- freedom of opinion, which made they should do that thing, speaking by a banner in front of Peace Palace. Oh it’s so miserable (especially for me). Back to the statement “3rd largest democracy” -- well, the democracy isn’t credible.

And the big issues causes "this miserable thing" are distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status and of course less government attention.

Now. what do you know about this picture below? (taken from KOMPAS.com) from the article “Tujuh Kapal Eropa Akan Ikut ke Gaza”. (You need to read that article and the comments below the article)

I don't really want to care about the root causes of the conflict between Palestine and Israel, but to read the comments of this article, and conversations around me, often very very miserable. Should it be questioned whether the aid comes from infidels or not? Hi, people! Please think clearly, why the conflicts "sickening" of this kind should be prolonged. I once wrote in my blog, titled "Where Is the Peace?", I seem to be enough "screamed piteously."

Now, please see this nice picture below, from the World Cup 2010 (taken by Anastasia Narulita Purnomo).

Supposedly, mental as it is written in the banner not only call for the ball players and supporters, but for people all over the world. There was no difference between human beings.

So, in my oppinion, peace is the purpose of democracy. And, law shall guarantee a peace, then a beautiful democracy will be created, not democracy as a tool of conflict.

Last, quote from Article 2 Universal declaration of Human Rights:

“Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.”
